Waterjet Cutting

Precision waterjet cutting is our primary and most advanced stone production method. Using high-pressure water mixed with abrasive, we achieve sub-millimetre accuracy on marble, granite, limestone, and other natural and engineered stone materials.

Waterjet cutting uses a focused stream of water mixed with abrasive particles, pressurised to extreme levels, to cut through stone with precision that mechanical tools cannot match. Unlike traditional cutting methods, waterjet produces no heat, no stress fractures, and no material distortion. The result is a clean, accurate cut with smooth edges that requires minimal secondary finishing. As our flagship production method, waterjet cutting handles the broadest range of applications: from intricate decorative medallions and complex geometric floor patterns to precise architectural cutouts for sinks, electrical sockets, and wall fixtures. The technology excels at cutting curves, sharp internal corners, and delicate lattice patterns that would be impossible or prohibitively expensive with conventional methods. Waterjet is also highly material-efficient. The narrow kerf width means less stone is wasted, and the ability to nest multiple parts on a single slab reduces material cost for larger projects. For clients who supply their own stone slabs, this efficiency directly translates to more finished pieces from the same raw material.

CNC Engraving

Computer-controlled engraving for precise text, patterns, and relief designs on marble, granite, and limestone surfaces.

CNC engraving uses computer-controlled rotary tools to carve designs into stone surfaces with consistent depth and detail. This method is ideal for text engraving, logos, shallow relief patterns, and repeatable decorative elements. CNC excels at calligraphic work — Arabic lettering, Quranic verses, names, and dates — where consistent line depth and precise character spacing are essential. It is also the preferred method for architectural numbering, directional signage, and commemorative plaques. The process begins with your digital artwork, which we prepare and optimise for the specific stone material and desired finish. Multiple passes at controlled depths ensure clean, chip-free results even on brittle or veined stone.

Stone carving at iStone bridges traditional sculptural techniques with contemporary production methods. Our team produces custom sculptural pieces, deep relief panels, column capitals, and architectural ornamentation in marble, limestone, and granite. Relief carving creates raised or recessed designs on a flat stone background. Deep relief — where elements project significantly from the background — creates dramatic shadow play and visual depth that flat engraving cannot achieve. This technique is widely used for feature walls, entrance statements, and heritage-style architectural detailing. Each carving project is assessed individually. The stone type, design complexity, and required depth determine the production approach — from CNC roughing followed by hand-finishing to fully manual sculptural work for one-off artistic pieces.

Laser Surface Engraving

Laser marking and engraving on marble and stone surfaces for high-contrast imagery, detailed photographs, and fine-resolution graphics.

Laser surface engraving uses a focused laser beam to create permanent marks and imagery on stone surfaces. Unlike mechanical engraving, laser marking does not physically cut into the stone — it creates contrast through surface reaction, producing dark marks on lighter stone or light marks on darker stone. This method excels at reproducing photographic imagery, fine-resolution graphics, and detailed illustrations on marble and stone surfaces. It is particularly effective for memorial plaques with portrait imagery, architectural presentation boards, and decorative panels where photographic detail is required. Important: Laser engraving on marble is a surface marking process, not a cutting process. It produces high-contrast surface imagery but does not cut through the stone. For applications requiring cuts or deep engraving, waterjet cutting or CNC engraving are the appropriate methods.

What You Need to Provide

High-resolution images (PNG, TIFF, or JPEG at 300 DPI minimum) produce the best results. Vector artwork is also accepted for graphic elements.

Not every client comes to us with finished production files — and that is perfectly normal. Our design preparation service bridges the gap between your concept and the production floor. Our team takes your sketches, reference images, verbal descriptions, or rough measurements and creates production-ready vector files. We handle pattern layout, material optimisation, nesting (arranging multiple parts on a slab to minimise waste), and file formatting for our waterjet, CNC, and laser equipment. This service is particularly valuable for clients who know what they want but lack the technical drawings to communicate it. For decoration companies and architects, we can also prepare cutting lists and production files from your architectural drawings, reducing your pre-production workload.
